Congratulations to our Social Work Academy, who were recognised at the ADCS West Midlands Team Excellence Awards at Worcestershire County Cricket Ground on 18th September.

The Executive Management Team nominated the team in recognition of the difference they make to the lives of children, young people and families through their focused work in developing and supporting our students, newly qualified social workers and social work apprentices, as well as our more experienced practitioners, delivering a diverse range of learning and development opportunities.

Emma Taylor and 3 members of the Social Work academy team - Aman, Halima and Alaine

I was joined at the event by Aman Basi, Halima Hassan and Alaine Shaw who represented the team, with Beth Furmage, Kerry Pointon, Joanne Moore very much part of the achievement too, led of course by Heather Clarke and Carol Singleton.

The event brought together 15 children’s services teams from across the West Midlands, each nominated by their senior leaders for their exceptional commitment, partnership working and impact. Every team invited had earned their place and was recognised for their excellent practice.

This is an event that I enjoy being a part of and it’s lovely to spend time with our staff and it’s also a great opportunity to celebrate the breadth of excellence across our region.

A thoroughly deserved recognition for our Social Work Academy – congratulations!
