Fostering film premiere at West Bromwich Albion

West Bromwich Albion will tonight (15th October) become the first football club in the country to throw their support behind ‘Out There’ a new film to promote fostering co-produced by 34 fostering services around the country, including Sandwell Children’s Trust.

‘Out There’ will be shown on screens around The Hawthorns at West Brom’s televised match tonight against local rivals Birmingham City.

Steven Gauntley, Director of Operations for Sandwell Children’s Trust, said: “We’re thrilled at the backing from West Brom. The film was released on Tuesday, and the staff at West Bromwich Albion have been really helpful to make this happen so that our film gets seen by a bumper crowd at tonight’s local derby game.

“As the film is a co-production with other children’s trusts and local councils all over the country we’re also proud that this will be the first time the film has been seen by such a large audience, but the real story is that we need more people to step forward as foster carers and we hope that someone watching ‘Out There’ at The Hawthorns tonight will be inspired to take that first step to give a child a safe loving home in the future.”

‘Out There’ is the result of a collaboration of local councils and children’s trusts from Northumberland to Brighton joining together for a unique film project, developed by the West Midlands Regional Fostering Recruitment Forum. The film’s aim is to help find more foster carers who can provide homes for the children and young people who need them, by highlights the ways fostering can make a difference to the lives of everyone involved, from the children and young people who live with foster carers, to those who come forward to care for them.

‘Out There’ follows earlier partnership projects between Sandwell Children’s Trust and councils in the West Midlands that have produced the award-winning fostering films ‘Giants’ and ‘There was a Boy’.

The film is also available to watch on the Sandwell Children’s Trust website: www.sandwellchildrenstrust.org/fostering
