Regional Team Excellence Awards 2024

This year our Youth Justice Service was awarded for their Brotherland Project and the impact it had on some of our young people.

With the help of an arts organisation called 'Safe Ground', the project brought together a group of our young people who created culturally specific journals for boys of Black heritage- Brotherland Journals.

The journal contains different activities which help our young people to explore their identity, environment and their aspirations. Some of the boys that took part in the project went to Safe Ground's office in London where they met with artists that contributed to the work in the journal and visited one of their exhibitions.

This work raised their aspirations, increased their engagement and gave them confidence in sharing their voice. The young people are now in education, training or employment and haven't re-offended.

Well done to everyone who took part in this innovative and life changing work.
