Sandwell Children’s Trust brings Christmas cheer
Staff at Sandwell Children's Trust have been collecting Christmas presents from local organisations to distribute to local disadvantaged children and young people.
Hundreds of presents have been donated by organisations including Free Radio, Sandwell Council's employee services team and neighbourhoods team, Wiggles and Giggles Nursery in Oldbury, Hartshill Strollers Walking Football Club and Great Barr Methodist Church.
The Rt Hon, Jacqui Smith, Chair of Sandwell Children’s Trust, said: “These donations demonstrate that Christmas spirit is well and truly alive here in Sandwell. Thank you so much to everyone and I’m sure the gifts will be very much appreciated by those who receive them.
"I'd also like to thank the dedicated staff from the trust who will be out in force making sure the presents get to the children who may not otherwise receive a gift this Christmas."
Sandwell Children's Trust Chief Executive, Frances Craven is overwhelmed by the number of Christmas presents that have been donated: "We have been overwhelmed by the number of donated presents we have received and by the generosity of both organisations and individuals.
"I want to thank everyone who has donated a gift for a child this year. We are so very grateful for the kindness and thoughtfulness people have shown.”
Staff have already started to distribute the donated presents to children and young people and will all be delivered before Christmas.
